Advancing Relational Practice

Our Mission
The Atlantic Centre for Relational Practice exists to cultivate a community of mental health practitioners committed to deepening their understanding of psychotherapy through a contemporary relational and psychoanalytic lens. We believe that healing is not found solely in techniques or interventions, but also within the therapeutic relationship itself—a relationship shaped by curiosity, authenticity, mutual influence, and genuine human connection.
We believe that psychotherapy is, first and foremost, a human encounter. While theory, skills, and evidence are essential, it is within the therapeutic relationship that these come alive. Our mission is to cultivate a community of clinicians who are committed to understanding and strengthening that relationship through ongoing study, reflection, and dialogue.
Expert Clinical Training
We offer a vast depth of knowledge in counselling, psychology, academia, and supervision, specializing in relational and psychoanalytic fields to support the growth of skilled mental health therapists.

Foundations of Relational Practice
A Six-month seminar in contemporary relational and psychoanalytic training
January – June 2027
Psychotherapy is more than the application of techniques—it is a relationship between two people. Foundations of Relational Practice is a six-month professional seminar designed for licensed mental health practitioners who wish to deepen their clinical thinking through a contemporary relational and psychoanalytic lens.
Together, we will explore the therapeutic relationship as a central agent of change while engaging with foundational concepts including relational theory, transference and countertransference, enactment, rupture and repair, attachment, subjectivity, and the use of self in psychotherapy.
This is not a certification program or skills workshop. Rather, it is an opportunity to become part of a small community of clinicians committed to thoughtful discussion, close reading, and collaborative reflection on the complexities of therapeutic work.
Seminar Format
The seminar meets once per month on the last Thursday morning of each month from January through June 2027.
Each session includes:
- One hour of discussion centered on assigned readings and contemporary relational theory.
- One hour of collaborative clinical consultation where participants explore their own cases through a relational lens.
Between meetings, participants are encouraged to engage with the monthly readings and connect with colleagues through our optional online community.
Who Should Apply?
This seminar is designed for licensed mental health practitioners who are interested in deepening their understanding of psychotherapy beyond technique alone.
Whether you identify as psychodynamic, emotion-focused, attachment-oriented, CBT, ACT, systemic, or integrative, participants should have a genuine curiosity about the therapeutic relationship and a willingness to reflect on their own experience within the clinical encounter.
